The final trailer to “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” is rad. It’s visuals? Visually-delicious!

The movie is based on the French sci-fi comic book series of the same title by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres that ran from 1967 to 2010.

Director Luc Besson, (“Lucy” and “Fifth Element”) had been working on the movie for decades. This had given him plenty of room not only for creativity but also for the sharpening of the film’s vision. As evident within the trailers, the project promises to defy the limitations of visual and special effects with a budget of over $200m.

The story follows special agents Valerian and Laureline as they go on a mission to the city of Alpha, a melting pot for all species across the universe. Here, they share knowledge and their cultures with each other. But underneath the seemingly progressive facade of the metropolis is a brewing unrest fuelled by dark forces that are bent on placing the “City of a Thousands Planets” to its undoing.
