The End is Here: Marvel Studios Releases The First Trailer to “Thor Ragnarok”
After the sporadic teases across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the first trailer to the God of Thunder’s third offering is finally here.
Directed by New Zealand filmmaker, Taika Waititi, “Thor: Ragnarok” sees the titular character as he faces off with a new nemesis that would put even the Trickster, Loki to shame.
Hela or Hel in Norse Mythology is a being who rules over the realm of the same name. Born in the land of the giants, Jotunheim, Hela is said to be the daughter of Loki and the giantess Angrobooa. In her maturity, she was given dominion over the dead in both Hel and Niflheim by Odin.
In Marvel canon, Hela made it her quest to collect more Asgardian souls, greatly desiring to gather even Odin and Thor’s souls.
In the first trailer, we are treated with a clip of Hela, delightfully portrayed by the brilliant, Cate Blanchett, as she effortlessly catches Mjolnir only to pulverize it.
Things get even more exciting as we see the Hulk, in gladiator regalia, as he goes head-to-head with Thor in an arena.
As Norse Mythology scholars may already know, “Ragnarok” is the culminating event that would see the end of the world of Asgard. Here, it is foretold that Odin himself would be obliterated.
Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released in cinemas on November 3rd 2017.
