by Joshua Diokno

Mr. AliReza Akhbari may be a man of few words. But what he does not articulate linguistically, his works speak eloquently.

And we cannot simply can’t keep our eyes from his works. They are indicative of his uniqueness; Mr. Akhbari has a style that seem familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. Definitely, his style stands out.

So let us get to know Mr. Alireza Akhbari in this short but sweet interview and get to know what makes artists like him tick.

Xeno Creatives (XC): ZBrush technology was such a notable innovation to the 3D industry. What processes did you have to learn to be skilled at it?

AliReza Akhbari (AA): I believe we need two kinds of skill. One of them is technical–it only needs watching ZBrush website tutorials or other source. After some time, artists can innovate their own technics. The second one and probably the

more important is understanding about volumes and structure of the human body or what the artist himself wants to create. For the second part, its better to have the traditional skills of drawing and sculpting.

XC: As a dedicated artist, did ZBrush help you further your art?

AA: As a tool yes it does.

XC: What made you decide to focus on ZBrush as a medium for 3D art creation? Are you still planning on venturing into other software?

AA: I can get my result very fast. Also it’s so convenient as a

modeling tool
. I use a wide range of software for my artworks. ZBrush is my main app. Also, I use Mudbox too.

XC: Do you have to be good in human anatomy when working with ZBrush?

AA: It depends whether your model is human or not. By default however, yes it is more desirable to have basic knowledge of human anatomy.

XC: Do you see yourself working in the movie and television industry?

AA: Actually I am working in these industries right now.

XC: Was your craft really a passion to begin with or just a job?

AA: At first, it was my passion. After a few years everything got professional

XC: We have had the most pleasant chance of seeing your works on ArtStation and we must say, we were really impressed. Your style is completely original and your attention to detail is indeed noteworthy. But do you have favorite pieces? What made these stand out for you?

AA: I appreciate that. It is very kind of you to say these wonderful words about my work.

Actually i like all of them but my favorite is Nader Shah.
My main focus is on the emotions of the character and its posture.

XC: Whom do you consider your influences? Why do you look up to them?

AA: Actually i like all artists works but my favorite artist is indeed Marek Denko.

XC: What other pieces do you still want to create?

AA: Mmm I think i’ll make my own zoo in CG 🙂

XC: Do you also see yourself being immersed fully in Game Character Design?

AA: My first option is animation and VFX. But of course maybe in the future.

XC: If you weren’t a 3D artist today, what do you think you’d be working

as?

AA: My education degree is Electronics. Maybe I’d be working in the electronic industry lol

XC: What advice can you give individuals wanting to enter the industry?

AA: First be patient. Then practice. No one was ever good at their first time. Just with practice and patience you can find your actual place.

Thank you very much for your time Mr. AliReza Akhbari. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity. All the best in your future endeavours!
