Schwarzenegger and Stallone Departs “The Expendables” Franchise
In the wake of Sylvester Stallone’s announcement that he would no longer be joining the next “The Expendables” film, Arnold Schwarzenegger had also recently confirmed his exit from the testosterone-pumped franchise.
Stallone, who had chosen to leave the production cited that the decision was made due to creative differences with Millennium Films producer, Avi Lerner. Schwarzenegger, on the other hand, declared that without Stallone on the saddle, his tenure within the franchise is as good as done. he was quoted in a statement saying he, “… would never do the movie without him…”
Sylvester Stallone acted not only as a star to “The Expendables” but also a screenwriter and a producer during his run. This is the reason why seeing him leave would not only be a pain to anticipating fans, but also the production team as well. And Arnold Schwarzenegger’s departure isn’t going to make things better.
A success at the box office, “The Expendables” took $103 Million in national sales and another $171 Million from foreign markets across the globe. However, the second installment, “The Expendables 2” only grossed $85 million and “The Expendables 3” just accumulated $39 Million. The two movies fared relatively well in the international market with a $229 MillionĀ for the former and $175 Million for the latter.
Would you be watching another “The Expendables” film without Arni and Sy? Do you think the film would fare well?
