And this time, the HBO landmark series would be taking us by the ears by bringing one of music’s most sought after artists in its sick sad little world.

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss had confirmed through the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas that prolific songwriter and ginger-haired prodigy, Ed Sheeran would be joining “Game of Thrones” in its final outing.

But of course, this isn’t the first time that the series had commissioned a high profile musician to cameo. The past seasons had seen a number of guestings from music artists including lead vocals and rhythm guitarist, Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, Coldplay’s backing vocalist and drummer, Will Champion, Sigur Ro’s as a band playing in Joffrey’s wedding and Mastodon band members, Brann Dailor, Bill Kelliher, and Brent Hinds who collectively portrayed the “Wildlings”.

In a reported statement, Dan Weiss had disclosed that a lot of music artists expressed their desire to be in “Game of Thrones”, but he was quick to discourage them due to the boredom that shoots might cause. Despite this, they still remained to be of good sport and had exuded professionalism.

While little information had been made known regarding what role Ed Sheeran would be given, the fan community is already excited and up to their ears with anticipation with his involvement.

How about you, what role would you want Ed Sheeran to play in the final season of “Game of Thrones”?
