Joker Origin/Standalone Flick in the Works; Scorsese Onboard

After putting the Batfleck exit rumours to rest, another good news has come to the fans of the Dark Knight.

In the early stages of planning is a Batman universe spin-off that features the Joker himself.
Todd Phillips of The Hangover fame is set to write the script for it with 8-Mile’s Scott Silver to co-write. The story is said to explore the origins of the Clown Prince of Crime.
While The Joker had seen another iteration in last year’s Suicide Squad, it had been said that the film will feature a possibly younger actor.
The Joker movie will be carried by a new Warner Bros. banner that aims to expand the existing DC properties. This is said to allow the firm to create unique storylines for movies where different actors can star.
And the icing to the cake? Martin Scorsese’s agreement to produce the film alongside Phillips.
With the director’s involvement, the supposed tone of the movie will borrow from Scorsese classics such as “Taxi Driver” and “The King of Comedy”. The movie will deviate from the usual tone of the DCEU in that it would be more grounded and feel like a gangster movie.
