Castlevania Gets Netflix Treatment!

Debuted in Japan on September 26, 1986, Akumajo Dracula or more popularly known as “Castlevania”, is series of video game created by Konami. A dark fantasy-themed action adventure game, “Castlevania” went on to become one of Konami’s main series after it receiving attention from outside Japan and an FCD version was ported to cartridge for Nintendo Entertainment System.

Castlevania follows the exploits of the Belmont clan, a family of vampire hunters, as they struggle against the infamous Dracula. Announced this week, Netflix, that miraculous place where all our series cravings are granted, is reported to be working on a “Castlevania” animated series. While details surrounding the project is still under wraps, word from the industry inform that best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis would not only be writing but also be producing for the project. Also reported, the series would be brought by Frederator Studios, a Wow Unlimited Media company.

Taking cues from the video game itself, the official description of the “Castlevania” series discloses that the animation would be about the last surviving member of the “disgraced” Belmont family who goes to lengths to save Eastern Europe from total annihilation at the hands of Vlad Dracula.

With the various series from different mediums that Netflix had successfully brought to life, it is no surprising that fans would be expecting only the best from the channel’s interpretation of “Castlevania”. Hopes are indeed high that the project sees the light of day.
