Each hero’s anatomy is intimidating. The hyper-masculinity and musculature tugs at every modern guy’s insecurities.

Noteworthy is Mr. Del Riego’s awareness of his talent’s strength and own style. This leads him to produce works that are truly inspired and of utmost quality.

So let’s get to know ZBrush Mr. Nelson Del Riego’s experiences that had led him to become the artist that he is today.

Xeno Creatives (XC): Given your experience in the industry, what do you think is your edge as a 3D artist?

Nelson Del Riego (NDR): To clear the air, I have not been in this industry for a long time. However, I consider that my advantage is the originality of the works. I dared to give a twist to the composition of the statues, being what my friends and followers like. One of the things that they have told me is that they like is my style, so I decided to keep it.

XC: What made you turn to ZBrush? What about it appealed to you?

NDR: My first software was 3Ds Max. When I was studying audiovisual communication, one of my friends decided to take a 3Ds Max course that was offered to us at that moment by our house of studies. I could not take it for reasons at that time. After a few weeks, my dear friend taught me the basics and its use. I was fascinated and delighted by it, it was a magical world for me. I decided to explore it fully.

I managed to create geometric figures, the teapot, some organic figures, etc. I even managed to animate some of them. One specific animation that I did was a boy in a sandbox, happily playing.

After a while, I discovered ZBrush; it had a friendly interface. It allowed me to produce very realistic organic models, easily and quickly. My world of dreams opened up for me, it is my ideal tool. From that moment on, I have not stopped working and exploring the magical world that ZBrush gave me. I am happy to rediscover my inner child as it gave freedom to my imagination.

Its main attraction is its friendly interface, it is very intuitive and quick to create organic figures and hard surfaces. It’s magic.

XC: What was your most exciting project to date?

NDR: All projects generate challenges that appeal to me. At the moment, it is the “Wolf Slayer”, I like its composition; the mix of organic elements with mechanical elements fascinate me. It is also the first digital sculpture that we are producing thanks to the unconditional support of my friends and followers.

XC: So far, what were the challenges that you had encountered working in the 3D industry?

NDR: The biggest challenge is to achieve a quality product that can reach the collective subconscious.

XC: Among your many AWESOME concepts, what stands out for you? Do you have favorites?

NDR: Thank you very much, it is very gratifying to know that you like my works. The truth is that I like the works of great artists such as Daniel Bel, Romell Choopra, Sheridan Doose, Franco Carlesimo, Caleb Nefzen, David Pereira, Claudio Saavedra and Gabriel Risco. But if I have to choose mine, it would be “Wolf Slayer”, “Cable” and “Weapon X”.

XC: What other concepts do you want to create through ZBrush?

NDR: I would like to do more surreal works, much like the pieces produced by Dalí, Magritte, and Frida Kahlo. Could you imagine a piece like the great masters’ delivered in 3D?

XC: What advice can you give to aspiring artists?

NDR: My main advice is perseverance. Never be overcome by laziness. Study and be willing to teach, maintain humility among colleagues. I’ve always said: Always change what I know, so I do not know.

Mr. Nelson Del Riego, thank you very much for the opportunity of an interview. We wish you all the success in your craft! WE look forward into seeing more of your amazing works!
